HB 888

Surprise Billing and Consumer Protection Act takes patients out of the middle of billing disputes between providers and insurers. It disallows surprise billing in emergency situations and when a patient receives scheduled services at an in-network facility. The legislation further requires patients to give consent before out-of-network services but only after they are provided with an estimate of the cost of such services. The Act covers an array of health care services and providers, including hospital or ambulatory car facilities.

Legislation that address location of antennas for wireless communications facilities and to provide for uniformity in location of facilities to ensure the expansion of broadband through out the state of Georgia

The ABLE Act allows disabled persons to save up to $250,000 without losing disability aid. The prior limit was $2,000. Now people with disabilities may afford buying vehicles and homes to live independently

Coverdale Murphy Act establishes certified levels of stroke treatment facilities. This provides guidance for transportation of the patient to the most appropriate hospital for emergency treatment. Reducing the critical time between the onset of a stroke and treatment is vital is the survival rate

Limits oral Cancer medicines which have the same wholesale cost of the IV meds to co pays of $300. Reduction of some meds from $2000 to $300

 

HB 209

The Federal Veteran’s Administration was taking years to provide documentation certifying a veteran as disabled, thereby preventing disabled veterans from qualifying for the Veterans Homestead Exemption. Allows for a three year recovery reimbursement of the Homestead Exemption for disabled veterans. This bill was named after a Hall County veteran, The Russell Tego USMC Act
